New sponsorship deal with Lewis ‘Double’ Dare!!!
As our brand grows so do our ambitions and we are delighted to announce that we will be sponsoring Lewis Dare for the 22/23 season.
Lewis, 26, took up darts just eight years ago and in that time he’s gone from strength to strength. He is well known in the Plymouth darting community and plays in multiple leagues, representing the Victory in the Plymouth Super League and the Cherry Tree in the Devon Super League. He made his debut for Devon County in the 2016/2017 season and since then has played for both the A and B sides, racking up 18 wins in 32 appearances.
At the start of 2022, Lewis entered the PDC Qualifying School. Held in January of each year, Q School gives any dart player their chance to win a PDC Tour Card to compete on the PDC circuit. Unfortunately, despite a solid performance, Lewis wasn’t able to progress beyond the first stage. However, in addition to the invaluable experience of competing in Q School it also entitled Lewis to compete in all PDC Challenge Tour events thus allowing him to continuing gaining high level experience.
In September of this year, Lewis entered four PDC Challenge Tours (16, 17, 18 & 19). Tour 16 saw Lewis deliver a solid average of 74.03, including four 180’s, a 100+ finish and a 15 dart leg, to advance to the last 64 but ultimately losing out 5-3 to Thomas Keenan. In tour 17 Lewis faced an impressive Kai Fan Leung and despite Lewis’s great effort of a 79.56 average, the man from Hong Kong put in a 91.02 average to win 5-3. Tour 18 provided Lewis’s best result of the weekend, and although his opponents all posted slightly higher averages, it was his “dig deep” attitude which helped him progress to the quarter finals. In his four games Lewis only dropped eight legs, hitting six 180’s, three 100+ finishes (130, 115, 127) and another 15 dart leg. Unfortunately, despite his solid performance, Lewis lost 5-0 to seasoned player, Alan Tabarn in the quarter final. This solid performance gave him great confidence going in to tour 19, where he nailed three 15 dart legs and a 180 to deliver averages of 82.11 and 83.03 in his two games but losing out 5-4 to Tonny Veenhof by the narrowest of margins.
In just 8 years, Lewis has proved he can mix it with the best and here at Dartbox we are thrilled to be in partnership with him. We are so excited to see where his future goes so expect updates from us but you can also follow him over at @lewdare96 on Instagram for updates on his career.
